We all know how we manage our tasks every day. It is obvious for every human to be driven by emotion. All of the living creatures have emotions from fearing for death to self-defense impulse. We try to catch the most beautiful things in our life to the most horrible things. These impulses in our mind are governed by our emotions. Human emotions are unique from other living beings. We are packed with the superpower of being awesome and thinking about unthinkable. Imagination, Creativity, Compassion, and Humanity are the 4 things that govern our emotions to the extent of every level.

The beauty of nature is, Chicken feed the chicks by the heat of its body. Crocodile senses the birth of its child from egg even from underwater, Tortoise looks after its babies and feeds them with a look of an eye. All these wonderful mysteries have emotions inside of it. Scientifically we may not know how but, this is an absolute beauty of emotional beings. When we are in love we sometimes feel about our partner of his/her pain. Mother can feel her child’s heartbeat.

Our values define us where we stand and how well we perform in our difficult times. We try hard to control things that we don’t want to. Let me explain my experience over these emotions and how I got over it. Last month I was in an intense pain of losing someone who I loved the most. Due to some circumstances, I had to leave her. I felt completely lost, vulnerable to pain and had full of disappointments which made me blame the person instead of getting over my emotion. I tried hard and hard every day to forget all the memories that I had spent with her. Every time I try, I was failing to get over those memories.

The first week I was unpredictable with my behavior. I was getting angry for small things, fought for those which are not mine, kindled with my feelings of depression. I threw myself in the ocean of depression where my emotion always got over me. I knew this will not help me to do anything in life.

Here are the steps I followed to overcome my depression,

  • I gave myself to life
  • I let my thought control me
  • I ate as much as I can
  • I watched movies, TV series on Netflix
  • I slept long hours
  • I disconnected from the world

It took time for me to get everything under my control. Even after letting my life to take me away to depression, I had faith in me about getting back to myself. I leaped over it.

In life, we need to let our emotions to control us instead of forcing ourselves as not being control. As long as we defend without giving up, we lose control over the other things that matter. As long as I tried controlling my emotions and defending myself to get out of it without accepting the fact, I was drowning in the ocean of depression. I had to swim to become myself free from those clutches, I tried my way of giving up.

Everyday while I was in my deepest and the darkest time, I was telling myself, “It’s OK to be in this position. I am gonna get through this”.

After a month of this slavery, I started to get stronger inside. My instincts never let us be a slave for a long time. It started to push me back to normal. The first thing, I felt at that movement is a shame. I was ashamed of doing nothing and my life thought me to fight back. I didn’t know how or what I am gonna do to fight. I left with nothing except failure and laziness.

The natural human tendency is freewill. All of us need the freedom to live and follow our paths. We don’t like to be slaves for anybody even for our own emotions.

I used this method to fight what I was going through. As deep as my emotions took control, my mind started to feel ashamed about me. The revolutionary guy who was in me started to instruct me and told me to change myself to get out of the control of my emotions. I needed to think logically to do that.

I changed my routine like this,

  • Started to tweet what I feel every day
  • Thought about being consistent about the fact in whatever I blend in
  • Written Journal every day
  • Listed my goals and values
  • Listed my disadvantages in a sheet of paper every day no matter it is the same thing I am writing.
  • I started to read articles about the topic I loved and tweeted them on Twitter.
  • I started my hashtag to feel unique. (#100DaysOfRead)
  • I spoke with the ones who cared for me at least once a day.
  • I did exercises at least 10 minutes a day.
  • I stopped excusing myself for not accomplishing my goals.

Everything, I did was consistent. I didn’t tell myself how to do or what to do. My only concern about me was being consistent and being honest with me.

The steps I followed, was consistent and pure effort. I stopped excusing myself and started to take things my way slowly and steadily. Every day is a small change in me started to appear. By those changes, my life looked interesting and made me curious to learn about new things in life. Ultimately, for a month I lived like an orphan and got out of emotion strong enough to dominate it in my ways.

I made my emotion as my protector by becoming a slave of it. I started seeing how beautiful human emotions are. We are living in a perception that being emotional, makes us weak and miserable. The truth is, emotion often helps us to grow when we start to embrace it.

Humans are tied with responsibilities and those responsibilities go way deeper than we think in our life. If we think that looking after our-self is also a responsibility, things start to change in our life. That change is not because of the environment, it is in us. The power of the change in the way we look at things makes them beautiful.

We need to have our life in a way that inspires us. Just a little tip for those who are open to change, “Living in life, is way too easy if you start embracing negative thoughts of your mind. Accept them, live with them. This gives you an ability to see life in the way you always intended to.”
