Analytics and site performance
If you choose “Allow analytics”, this site loads Google Analytics through Firebase (measurement ID G-VZF9P08XB9) and Dynatrace Real User Monitoring. These services help understand page visits, browser performance, and technical errors. Providers may process browser, device, network, and cookie identifiers according to their settings and policies.
Advertising consent is denied. The site does not intentionally send search text, email addresses, form input, or URL query strings as custom analytics. It does not set an identified Dynatrace user. Session Replay is not enabled by this application; the owner must also keep it disabled in the Dynatrace application configuration.
Publishing and operational reliability
The private publishing workspace uses Google sign-in, a secure session cookie and private draft storage. Only the verified owner can edit or preview drafts. Browser analytics is disabled inside that workspace and private previews.
The application server sends technical traces, metrics, logs and audit events to Dynatrace to diagnose requests, Firebase operations and publication changes. These contain operation metadata, outcomes, timings and payload sizes or hashes. Raw article bodies, drafts, images, authentication tokens, session cookies and email addresses are not copied into these operational events.
The invitation-only reading room
People and Journal is shared only with people I invite. Signing in with Google alone does not grant access. I store an invited reader’s email address, verified Google account identifier and invitation expiry to check access. Revoking an invitation ends access to the posts and their images. A secure HttpOnly session cookie supports signed-in reading; browser Analytics and RUM are disabled in this room. Invitations do not subscribe you to email.
A local reading-room preference helps display its navigation link after sign-in. It does not grant access and is cleared when you sign out. Private entries are excluded from the public sitemap and feeds.
Your choice
Your choice is stored in your browser under harithsa.analytics.v1. If browser storage is blocked, it applies only to the current page. You can revisit this choice below or in the footer. Withdrawing consent reloads the page to stop the loaded monitoring scripts. Existing provider cookies may remain until removed through browser settings; withdrawal does not delete previously collected data.
Display preferences
Your colour-mode choice is saved only in this browser. Until you choose a mode, the site follows your device’s light or dark preference. Clearing this site’s browser data resets that choice. This functional setting does not enable analytics. If browser storage is unavailable, you can still switch modes for the current page.
External links and images
Links to GitHub, LinkedIn, Topmate, and other services open their websites, which have their own privacy policies. Some images within archived articles are served by their original image providers. Requests to external image services disclose normal network information, including your IP address.
