01 / THE IDEA

What it does

dt-mac-agent brings macOS health signals into Dynatrace using Bash and tools already available on the machine. It collects CPU, memory, disk, network, battery, process and application information without adding a heavyweight runtime.

A launchd daemon performs collection, while a separate watchdog checks that the agent is alive. The repository also includes a MacOS Health Center dashboard and command-line controls for inspecting the local agent.

02 / INSIDE THE PROJECT

A closer look

Machine health

Collect resource usage, battery health, top processes and running application measurements.

Resilient collection

Buffer failed batches locally and retry them within the documented retention window.

Agent operations

Inspect status and metrics through dtmacctl, with local logs for troubleshooting.

Dynatrace context

Attach host dimensions and use the bundled dashboard to explore the collected signals.
