We all face a war between science and religion every day. Thousands of saints talk against science for being the law asking proof to accept the teachings. Few more saints support science over religious beliefs. Science is all about knowing that is accepted with proofs and discussions over religion which is accepted worldwide by the beliefs that are followed by our ancestors.

We have difficulties in believing science and religion at the same time. Some might even consider that believers of science are atheists. I say it is not true, this often goes both ways and we need to stay on the same page. If science teaches how water boils, religion explains the advantages of drinking boiling water with some kind of belief.

The scientific level of understanding focuses on how things work and from where they originate, while religion strives to understand the ultimate purposes for the existence of living things. They both help us understand the things around us. Science gives us a way to think and relate whereas religion gives us hope and the leap of faith to move forward in life.

We can see different cultures explains different things about the path that we are living and the nature of existence. On the other hand, science unites all the cultures to be one and it has no religion. The knowledge of science is accessible for everybody interested to learn and express their thoughts about it. Science is like an open-source where everyone contributes to the amendments of law with correct explanations but religion is closed for amendments and they are read-only materials and any separate thoughts from it can be considered as non-viable.

Let’s consider both of them as a journey and explore one by one and see how it works.

  • Science as Religion
  • Religion as Science

Science as Religion

Think once about the power of reasoning related to science. It always keeps us in the loop of thinking and questioning the possibility. If science is a religion, then there would be people around us everywhere who think like scientists and ask questions about every phenomenon we encounter in our daily lives. We all will start to research the things and search for proof for the particular problem or the scenario.

For example, we sacrifice animals to perform rituals where there need their blood for no reason. If we are the people of science, we never sacrifice animals in the name of false beliefs instead we start to ask questions about why we need to do this and what happens if we don’t follow. Unless we get the perfect reason to do it we back off from it.

Scientists prefer to eat them for a good meal rather than sacrificing animals in the name of religion and later eating it unless there is an explanation for it.

Consider one more example, where the outcomes are the same but the way how we understand is different. At the time of the solar eclipse, we Hindus consider this as an act of demon named Rahu attacking Sun. We consider Sun as God in this religion. At this time, we all stay at home instead of going outside and the reason for it is, that it is demon time hence if we go outside we may get a disease or we suffer from fortune issues.

Scientifically, when the moon blocks sunlight to travel to earth, a solar eclipse occurs to the part of the earth where sunlight can’t travel. At this time, higher frequency lights may enter the earth’s surface which may affect humans when they come outside or if that incident on any food materials it gets spoiled. The outcome of the eclipse is the same. It is suggested to stay under the roof instead of getting exposed to it. Belief is different but the suggestion is the same. This is how Science and Religion works.

Religion fanatics always counter the explanation of science. But they never understand that science is also a religion where people get more practical and start to find the explanation technically instead of believing in what is written.

Religion as Science:

Straightaway I will go to an example, let’s compare between Astrology and Astrophysics. Many of us get confused with both words and think both are the same. Astrology is the religion of science and Astrophysics is the science of religion.

They both play a big role in understanding science and religion and the understanding between them. Astrology studies the movement of stars and planets across constellations and predicts a theory about human behavior and how movements of those heavenly bodies affect the future of humanity. It is all achieved by the consistent observation of night skies in bare eyes without any technological types of equipment. But still most of the time, predictions are truthful when we confirm them through Astrophysics. It is the study of celestial bodies on their life cycles, movements, origin and existence based on scientific laws and theories which are explored and analyzed with the help of modern technology.

Astrology is accepted by all of the religions in the world and Astrophysics is loved by all scientists. Astrophysicists and Astrologers both use mathematical predictions to achieve the required goals and do predictive analysis. Astrophysics is about the exploration of the universe and understanding the universal laws that constitute unlimited possibilities and mysteries to discover. Astrology brings knowledge from ancient observation of the sky made from thousands of years of expertise from our ancestors.

The nature of both is similar and constant. Every day we use technology and get benefited from it to grow ourselves better and make our lives worth living. There is an infinite number of distractions and differences to make out from science and religion unless we understand the real purpose of religion as science. When we understand, everyone walks together in the exploration of infinite possibilities where we find ourselves curious all the time about things that might happen.

Conclusion:

We hold a lot of evidence to prove that science and religion are both the same. Where religion devotes its presence to the power that is beyond our understanding. Science is a child where it keeps asking questions about the things that it doesn’t understand and persist until it gets the answer. Ultimately, both science and religion are the branches of the same tree that originated from the same root called curiosity and exploration.

We call mysteries as God while science call mysteries as an opportunity to explore and learn more about it. Religion is matured but science is an ever-growing subject that uses technology as the fuel of it.

As long as we accept the knowledge from both the sides, we keep ourselves in the loop of curiosity which helps to find answers in this wonderful amazing universe.
